Toše Proeski

photo's from here
Toše Proeski a Macedonian singer and songwriter was once maybe the most popular singer in Macedonia. His first hit was (1998) Pusti me ("Let me go"). The musical genre is wide: pop, classic, opera, traditional, rock and even classical metal.

Proeski performed in public first time at the age of twelve at the popular children's song festival Zlatno Slavejče but the real career started in 1996 at the teenage music festival Melfest. He released his first album at the age of 18.

Along with F.Y.R. Macedonia Proeski was very popular also elsewhere in Balkan. The whole Europe got to know him in Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 with his song Life (14th place). He also made a Macedonian version Angel si ti  ("You're an angel"). At the very same year he became a  UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. Proeski is known for donating his concert incomings to orphanages.

Proeski sang normally in Macedonian or Serbian and later also in English and even in Italian.

Then came the dreadful day. Early morning on October 16th in 2007 - exactly three years ago -  Toše Proeski died in a car accident in Croatia. The car was hit by a truck and it drove into the median barrier. Sleeping Proeski got killed instantly in the front passinger seat. Next day - the 17th - was pronouced a national mourning day in Macedonia and the government titled him as "the Honorable citizen of Macedonia"

Proeski's last album was published two years after his death in 2009. This post mortem album called The hardest thing was in English and it was prepared for foreign countries. But the expanding never happened. The cover of the last album is chosen by Proeski's fans and it's a sad remainder of his too short life.

Toše Proeski was definetly too young to die, too good to die. His warm and strong voice is one of the best I know. And his smile too.

One example of his voice you'll find by cliking this and wind to 3:58 when he sings a moment without music. Or by listening Toše singing The hardest thing to a reporter. This song he never sang entirely in public for it was just made. And because I can't translate his songs I've decided to share one of his last songs which is already in English.

I guess it's just another night
Another fight
That all familiar scene

You looking
At your watch again
Saying what's the time
And where the hell you've been

Even on the other side
Wondering why I even try at all
Look into my heart again
With your x-ray eyes
Tell me what you're trying to see
Can't stand the way you look at me

*I put my
Hands up
I put my hands up
I guess I'm guilty
Hands up
I must have done whatever you accuse me of
I stand up to hear your judgement
It's always guilty
But I'm gonna make a break
Before you turn the key*

Maybe my life would be easier
Getting out of here
And trying to make it right

There's no matter what I do
I can't get through
I wanna just get by
You forget the liveness
We just exist as nothing left inside
Should I tell you what you wanna hear
And kill it with this lie
Show you what you wanna see
It seems to be that you need me to

*Put my hands up... *

When did we become these strangers
I don't even recognise us
There's nothing there to justify you
Feeling the way you do
But I guess all I can do is to

*Put my hands up... *

*I put my hands up
I guess I'm guilty
Hands up
I must return whatever you accused me of
I stand up to hear your judgement
It's always guilty
Girl I'm gonna make a break
Before you turn the key*

I guess it's just another night
Another fight
That all familiar scene

A HAPPY MAN
Why the people in love with each others
Are always a bit the same
When they come thay have
the same look of only desire to each others
They are happy people
Why the people in love with each others
Are always a bit the same
When they have problems
Well nothing to say about it, and nothing to do for them
They are people who love each other

*And I hardly know you
But it was just luck
That we go away little like them
We could have done it without feeling awkward
In a place for two
But if it's not worth it
That I come back
You have to say it to me from the depht of your eyes
How much time ever it takes
How much wagers ever it needs
I want to be a happy man*
Why the people in love with each others
Are always a little rebell
They have their own world for them
Nothing obliges to remain those
Who give us an example
Why the people in love with each others
Are always a little cruel
When they talk to you about themselves
About things that makes you draw away a little
These are humain things

*And I hardly know you..*

MINAPENDAWE
(H. Lotti & Will Tura)

Minapendawe Minapendawe Minapendawe Minapendawe

Minapendawe has nothing to eat
Minapendawe hardly stands on her feet
Still she keeps going on drying out under the burning sun
Searching food to survive to keep her children alive
Will she find it in time
Or will the desert just take another life away
Will she get through the day
*Oh, does she know how to fight when there is nothing to win
Only the night and then the struggle again
Is there a way to maybe give her a little thing - her life *

Minapendawe Minapendawe Minapendawe Minapendawe
Minapendawe has nothing to eat
Minapendawe hardly stands on her feet
She remembers the time
Fruit was juicy 'cause nature was kind
When they had to run away life got harder every day
Bones now bleach in the sun
So many people she loved and so much hope that is gone
But she must go on

*Oh, does she know how to fight when there is nothing to win
Only the night and then the struggle again
Is there a way to maybe give her a little thing
Oh, does she know how to fight when there is nothing to win
Only the night and then the struggle again
Is there a way someone can help today
And maybe change just a little thing - her life *

Björk

Björk Guðmundsdóttir (21.11.1965) is a singer from Iceland. She is mostly known for her solo career but she has been part of many bands during her teenage life and in 2000 she played the role of Selma in the movie "Dancer in the Dark" where she also sang and danced for it was a musical drama film. In the film was also Cahterine Deneuve (Les parapluies of Cherbourg, 8 Femmes). Björks best known album is Debut (1993), the first of her solo albums.

After all Björk is a singer who has her very own style to dress, to make music videos and to sing. Her musical style is something between electronic, classic, jazz, ambient, alternative, folk, IDM and trip hop and the scale of her sopranolike voice is vide. Her crazy and wild costumes are her brand but on the other side she is a rough and plain northern girl (like in the picture on the top). She has got 13 Grammy - awards and named for "the best actress in 2000" in Cannes.

Her latest album "Volta" was published in 2007.

HUMAN BEHAVIOUR
If you ever get close to a human
And human behaviour
Be ready, be ready to get confused
There's definitely, definitely, definitely no logic
To human behaviour

But yet so, yet so irresistible
And there's no map and a compass wouldn't help at all

They're terribly moody
And human behaviour

Then all of a sudden turn happy

But, oh, to get involved in the exchange of human emotions
Is ever so, ever so satisfying

Oh oh, and there's no map
Human behaviour, human

Human, human behaviour, human

Human, human behaviour, human
Human behaviour, human

And there's no map
And a compass

Wouldn't help at all

Human behaviour, human, human
Human behaviour, human,

Human behaviour, human,
Human behaviour

There's definitely, definitely, definitely no logic
Human, human

Human behaviour
Human
There's definitely, definitely, definitely no logic

Human, human, human, human.
