Apulanta a Finnish rock band is founded in 1991. The members are now Toni Wirtanen (composing, lyrics, vocals, guitar), Simo "Sipe" Santapukki (back vocals, drums) and from year 2005 Sami Lehtinen (back vocals, bass). Along with rock the genres are alternately changed from punk to alternative rock, nu metal, pop rock and hard rock. Anyway the music has changed to a bit heavier style.

The head singer of the band Toni Wirtanen makes also the deep lyrics. He takes his time to  write the songs and the topics are based on hard issues like mental health and life itself.

Apulanta has also done two publications in English though their main language is Finnish. Fans of Apulanta you can find mostly from Finland and Germany but also from other lands in Europe.

The latest album Kuutio ("Cube") was released in 2008 and in 2009 Apulanta won Emma-Award thanks for the album.

I think the absolutely best thing about Apulanta is the lyrics. Sometimes they are hard to understand for they have so deep meaning and toughtful words. And yes angst of North you can find from their music... :)

Johnossi

Johnossi a duo from Sweden. Those two members are (from left) Oskar "Ossi" Bonde (drums, percussions, vocals) and John Engelbert (vocals, guitar, lyricist). So simply together they are Johnossi. Believe it or not it took quite some time before I got it, sad to admit.

Johnossi plays also tambourine, guiro, chims etc. Their lyrics are a bit angsty and the following song is one of the cheerest ones.

John and Ossi met when they were under 16 years old and duo was formed in 2004. They relesed their first album only after five moths of performing and financed the album with the income of their gigs. And now one of their albums has been released in Japan where thay also performed  first time in 2009.

This song is very creepy but oh so true. The music video is brilliant - it has that something. You can watch it when you click the title of the song.

Pascal Obispo

Pascal Michel Obispo aka Pascal Obispo is a French singer,composer and lyricist. He is known for his bold head and low profile when media comes along.

Though Obispo started with salsa is his genre nowadays pop. His voice is surprisgly high and clear.

He has collaborated with the most popular French singers as Patricia Kaas, Natasha St-Pier, Garou, Calogero, Faudel and Christophe Maé (I'll tell you more about Calogero, Faudel and Maé later) and other world celebrities as Céline Dion, Lionel Richie and Youssou N'Dour.

Obispo has released eleven albums starting from 1990 and the latest "Welcome to the magic world of Captain Samouraï Flower" was published in 2009.

In 2001 he won the Best French Male Artist -NRJ Music Award.

Since 1997 he has been one of les Enfoirés which is a enorme group of francophonic artists.

This song is very touching and I myself start to cry almost everytime I hear this. The melody is so melancholic, sad and dreary. The english translation does not sound as dramatic and beautiful as the original lyrics, sorry that.

Thåström

After a little break due to my (stupid) computer I start again with renewed pages and a new artist. Now to honor the beloved Victoria, the crown princess of Sweden, and her darling Daniel and their first day as husband and wife I decided to begin with a Swede artist called Sven Joachim "Pimme" Eriksson Thåström. He is better know just as Thåström.

Thåström is a talented lyricist, composer, singer and musician. He plays gitar, keybord and harmonica. He is now at his 50's and couldn't be better.


Along his solo career he is known as a singer in a punk band called Ebba Grön which was one of the most popular punk bands in Sweden. Now Thåströms genres beside punk are electric music, rock, hard rock and industrial rock.


Latest solo album "Kärlek är för dom" ("Love is for them") was released in 2009 on Friday the 13th! It was his seventh solo album and it was the number one on the lists. Now in 2010 his latest album was rewarded as the best album of the year and he also won the category for the lyricists.


I chose this song specially for its lyrics and the feeling that the music gives. It is powerful and so so so good!!! And a bit scary... In the music video misses a part but it is in the live version which is slower version but that makes it all the way better :)

Curved Air

 At first I beg a pardon but this text doesn't want to understand what means "line spacing". SO though I have tried This text is now one shapeles object so sorry...








Curved Air is a British progressive rock band formed in early-'70s. Their musical styles are also experimental, folk rock, fusion, classical rock and rock. The lead vocalist is Sonja Kristina who has played in the Hair-musical. Other members are Darryl Way (vocals, electric violin), Florian Pilkington-Miksa (drums), Francis Monkman (guitar, keyboard) and Robin Martin (bass). The band is regarded as a groundbreaking and vituoso like band and they are known for their incredible way to perform on the stage.

They stopped for a while and now they are on again.       Actually the following song isn't the one I first wanted to share. The song should have been from their third album Phantasmagoria and the track under the very same name but I didn't found it as a whole track so all the best parts would have been missing - so I changed.
